    The Muslim Foundation hosts the Muslim Youth Leadership Retreat in Green Lane, Pennsylvania over the weekend of August 27.  On Saturday August 28 Anisa Mehdi will conduct a workshop with the participants called "Muslims in Mainstream Media."

    "Inside Mecca" was rebroadcast on WETA (Washington, DC-area) on Wednesday, August 18, at 8pm.

    Anisa urged politically active visitors to this site to consider supporting the Arab-American cultural receptions at the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention.  These receptions are hosted by the Arab American Institute Foundation and will give representatives, delegates and others a chance to enjoy Arab American culture and contributions in a festive, non-partisan environment.  To contribute please contact aaif@aaiusa.org, or call (202) 429-9214 and ask for Karim Shaaban.

    France was the May destination for Anisa Mehdi and writer/researcher Catherine Oberg.  They visited Paris, Lyon, Montelimar, Aiguebelle and Thonon le Bains on documentary research for their film project based on John W. Kiser's The Monks of Tibhirine: Faith, Love and Terror in Algeria.

  • April 14, 2004: Anisa delivered the Frank Maria Distinguished Lecture at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire.  Her speech was called "The Reformation will be Televised: Islam and the 21st Century."  

  • In March, 2004: Anisa participated on two panels with the touring Fes Festival International.  On March 21 she spoke at Harvard University with the Very Reverand James Parks Morton, President of the Interfaith Center of New York, and with Diana Eck, Professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies at Harvard.  On March 26 she was at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark with Katherine Marshall of the World Bank.  Anisa opened the panel at NJPAC playing the adhan, or call to prayer, on the flute.  For more information go to www.fesfestival.com.

  • Earlier in March, 2004: "Inside Mecca," the National Geographic Special produced and directed by Anisa Mehdi, was screened in full at the Center for Religious Inquiry at St. Bartholemew's Church in New York City.  Anisa engaged in a lively question and answer session with the 100-person audience afterward.
